The Remix Project will play host to The 2nd Annual Stack Chips Texas Hold’em Charity Tournament, in the efforts to raise funds to level the career fields for young people from disadvantaged, marginalized and under served communities; by giving youth the skills to help propel them into their chosen creative field.

On Wednesday, April 25th, 99 Sudbury’s Glass Factory will play host to the 200+ person tournament asking for a $50 initial buy-in.

On Thursday, October 27th, The Remix Project was honoured to host the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, former Governor General of Canada, in our studio space. We were joined by her Foundation and executives from boutique furniture manufacturer EQ3 to announce the launch of Generation Art, a nationwide youth visual art contest aiming to spread the message of community building through the proliferation and promotion of the arts.

Remix was visited by various provincial and municipal dignitaries, community arts organizations, and members of the national and local media. The event featured live visual art by Remix 7.0 graduate Kyle, and Remix 8.0 participants Lelu & Cindy, as well as photography and video by fellow Remix 8.0 participants Anton & Frankie. Another Remix 8.0 participant, Milka, was also fortunate enough to have the opportunity to interview Her Excellency in a one-on-one setting.

The event was deemed successful and further strengthened the relationship between The Remix Project and the Michaelle Jean Foundation, with the former Governor General enthusiastically proclaiming before her departure “I am Remix!”

Dave Bolland, one of the bright young stars of the Chicago Blackhawks is also a big supporter of The Remix Project. We are honoured to announce that on August 3rd 2011 Chicago’s #36 and some of his closest friends in Hockey, Movies, Television and Comedy will be coming to the renowned Royal Ontario Golf Club for a day of golf and fun in support of The Remix Project and WE WANT YOU to be a part of the fun.

With only 144 Golf spots available, the event is quickly selling out but there is still time left. For $250 per player or $1000 per foursome you can join in on this highly anticipated and very special first time event.

The day will begin with Lunch & Registration at noon and a shotgun start at 1:30pm. Your player fee includes lunch, golf cart, green fees, dinner and gifts. A live and silent auction will accompany dinner. We have a number of surprise guests coming out for the day and we can say in all honesty that THIS will be the golf tournament you never forget and do not wantto miss out on being a part of.
